The best process for meeting this measure involves 3 steps.

1. Record the Patient Alcohol use status in the eMedRec Social History List.  Edit and Select the appropriate Status.

2. If the patient is an unhealthy Alcohol user record Diagnosis Code Z71.41 in their Problem List. This will record the brief alcohol counseling activity in the chart.

3. After the Z71.41 code is added to the Problem List you can Right Click on the line for this diagnosis and select Patient Education.

4. Click Print and print the Alcohol risk document created by the National Institute of Health for the patient. This action is recorded in the database.

Following the process above will meet the Clinical Quality Measure requirement.
